It depends on your preference! We offer both Windows Media and Flash video for our embedded and downloadable video clips. We feel that both are widely used and will please our members most by offering both as an option!
Our Flash Video clips are available in three qualities: high, medium, and low.
Our Windows Media clips are available in two qualities: high and medium.
If you’re downloading our clips we recommend the Windows Media option.
I am a member but I am having trouble downloading and watching VIDEO CLIPS. What should I do?
Our video clips are available in two formats, Windows Media and Flash Video.
You first need to download Windows Media Player from Microsoft
For Windows users we recommend using Windows Media Player by Microsoft.
Important note for Firefox users running Windows! You will have to download the following plugin to play our clips in your web browser: Windows Media Firefox Plugin. Please follow the installation instructions.
Mac users have the option of using Windows Media Player by Microsoft or you can download the Windows Media Components for Quicktime by Flip4Mac. Windows Media Components for Quicktime will enable you to play the clips within the familiar confines of Quicktime! Both of these options will allow you to play both embedded and our downloadable clips.
Older versions of Windows Media Player for Mac had a known bug that prevented Firefox from playing video clips within Windows Media Player. This has been resolved and works just fine in the latest version. Please download the latest version of Windows Media Player and follow the installation instructions.
You first need to download Flash Player from Adobe. Once you've installed Flash Player you have what you need to play the Flash Video clips in your web browser.
Downloadable video clips:
For both of our video formats we offer the ability for our members to download our video clips to play locally on their computer. We recommend only doing this for Windows Media due to quality concerns. The above listed players will work perfectly! For downloading and viewing our Flash Video clips locally on your computer we no longer offer any support.
I'm on a 28.8 modem. Why am I having trouble viewing your clips?
You have no doubt already learned to be very patient, but since our clips are very large, you will need to become extra patient! For a slow connection your best bet would be to download the clip you want to watch. Follow the directions in the lower right hand corner of the player window to download. We only recommend downloading our Windows Media clips to play locally due to quality concerns. For downloading and viewing our Flash Video clips locally on your computer we no longer offer any support.

After I open a Windows Media Clip it takes a long time to start playing. How can I make it start faster?
Windows Media Viewer has a cache size setting that defines how much of the clip has to be downloaded before it will start playing. You can make this cache size smaller by doing the following:
Just follow these steps:
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Click on "Tools" in the top navigation.
3. Click on "Options"; a window will appear.
4. Click on the tab marked "Performance".
5. Under "Network Buffering" click on "Buffer".
6. Where there is an option for time, type in 5 seconds.
7. Hit "Okay" and you're done.
I paused a clip and now the viewer screen is black. How do I get the screen back?
Grab the window with your mouse and move it up or down on your screen. Doing this should refresh it.
